An Open Letter to Investors
Dear Investor,
The Purpose of this letter regarding our company "Emerging Artist Productions" is to explore the possibility of expanding our San Francisco Bay area production company, into a larger multi-platform facility that would help support local filmmakers, deliver new feature film projects to the area, reach out to the film community with workshops and training, and develop new online properties (web series, both reality and narrative) that can also be delivered on DVD, Blu-Ray, television and mobile devices.
Emerging Artist Productions' intentions are to secure private investors to fund our company expansion, up to $2,500.000.000 (two million and five hundred thousand dollars US) on what we describe as a reduced-risk model. The model simultaneously provides for company expansion while providing funding for micro and low budget feature films.
Key risk factors are further mitigated as we have established a distribution model for said films, including DVD & Blu-ray, established cooperative agreements for locations, equipment and supplies with a major University (where we will provide hands on training for film students in trade for such assets), established cooperative agreements for additional equipment (where we will provide film clips and behind the scenes content where we use said equipment) and by shooting in a digital workflow, which will decrease the post processing and speed up the shooting schedules.
Funding would also provide for the establishment of a post production facility to handle the films, new web projects and production space for independent projects, workshops and training.
Additionally, our reduced-risk model assumes:
1) That our projects are handled with the highest level of transparency. Each investor will have the option to open our books and review our budgets, expenditures and assets for each film project, all we ask is one days notice to schedule the time for your auditor to review our financial records.
2) That each investor provides a minimum of $250,000. (two hundred and fifty thousand dollars US) and a maximum of $500,000. (five hundred thousand dollars US):
a) Each investor will receive an Executive Producer credit on one micro-budget film (for each $250,000 investment) and 20% of the net profits on that film (or films). These productions have guaranteed DVD and Blu-Ray distribution and net profits start at dollar one – unique to other distribution/profit models.
b) Each investor will receive 10% quarterly net profits from the production company after an initial 6 month start up period – a separate consideration from the film projects.
c) Each investor will be invited to any festivals at which our films are screening: including (but not limited to) Slamdance, Sundance, Tribeca or Cinequest.
3) As part of the post production facility, funding will provide for the purchase and deployment of several next generation digital cinema cameras, these cameras will be used on our film projects, made available for rental as part of a profit center and used to help train the next generation of Bay area filmmakers.
4) That Emerging Artist Production will produce two feature film projects per calendar year, at minimum, along with two concurrent web series.
Note: Any prospective investor should be aware that there are significant risks when making any investment, filmmaking provides no guarantee of a financial success. That said, our track record of high quality, low overhead filmmaking, along with our distribution agreements in place, do mitigate some level of risk, but holds no guarantees.
Sincerely,
Sinohui Hinojosa
